We recently wrote about sound systems and inmersive sound and we started talking about DTS. Today, we will talk about Dolby Atmos.
The American Ray Dolby was the founder of the company in London in 1965, although he moved the headquarters to the United States.
A Clockwork Orange was the first film with Dolby sound, using Dolby noise reduction on all pre-mixes and masters. In 1975 the company released Dolby Stereo included a noise reduction system and more audio channels.
Dolby is the leader of the multichannel sound market and its products are spread throughout the home and professional range. Not only that, Dolby is also signing agreements with many televisions to broadcast in 5.1 and they are beginning with the Telcos to implant their multichannel systems in the telephony market.
The sound produced by an Atmos speaker array is amazing. Some of the latest examples have been Gravity, John Wick and San Andreas, and it will keep on improving.
