Goodfellas is a great movie by one of the best film directors. He is a very good fellow too, but we are not going to talk about his private life 😉
Actually, we will. But not only about his private life. We want to talk about his work, and a little bit about his life as well.

Martin was born in Queens New York, 1942. Taxi Drive, Raging Bull, Goodfellas, Casino, Gangs of New York, The Wolf of Wall Street are among his best movies. He has also take part in one of the most brilliant TV show, Boardwalk Empire.

Let’s share some things you probably didn’t know about Martin Scorsese.

  • Do you know Martin Scorsese wanted to be a priest when he was little?
  • Being a child he become sick very often and spent so much time at home, watching from the window. Rear window (Alfred Hitchcock) is one of his favourite movies.
  • One of his fellow students at the University is the actor Harvey Keitel. They worked together in the movie Who’s That Knocking at My Door?

  • Keitel also worked with him in Taxi Driver, his first big movie.
  • Although New York, New York was a box office failure, the song created for the film is today an icon of the city and one of the great successes of Frank Sinatra.
  • Raging Bull is one of the best movies of the 80’s. It was shot in black and white to reduce its violence

  • Gangs of New York was the beginning of a beautiful friendship with Leonardo di Caprio.
  • Martin Scorsese won the Oscar for the Best Director. Coppola, Lucas and Spielberg awarded him for his movie The Departed.

  • Martin Scorsese also directed the first chapter of Boardwalk Empire

  • He loves music and has dedicated Works to Bob Dylan, Rolling Stones and George Harrison.
