Maybe we should explain the title of this post. We mean the actors who have played the role of this character created by Bram Stoker, Irish writer.

Let’s go with some of them.

Max Shreck

The first movie version was Nosferatu, directed by Murnau. Graf Orlok was the name of this Dracula and it was played by the German actor Max Shreck.

Bela Lugosi

Lon Chaney died before the movie directed in 1931 was shot. Tod Browning had to look for a new actor and the chosen one was Lugosi who played the role in the theatres.

Lon Chaney Jr.

After a long time without Dracula on the screens, Lon Chaney’s son was in charge to play the Count.

John Carradine

He is the father of the actors David, Bruce, Keith and Robert and also played the vampire.

Christopher Lee

Probably one of the first names that comes to your mind when talking about Dracula.  Hammer made different horror films and the vampire was one of the great protagonists.

David Niven

There is also room for humour in horror movies, in this case David Niven stars in Vampira which is also known as Old Dracula to take advantage of the success The Young Frankenstein.

George Hamilton

Love at first bit is a comedy in which Dracula is also the star. Kicked out his own castle in Romania, the Count travels to Harlem, New York.

Klaus Kinski

The German actor played Nosferatu in this remake directed in 1979.

Gary Oldman

One of the best movies about Dracula. Oldman, Winona Ryder and Coppola together in this film.

Leslie Nielsen

Dracula: Dead and Loving It is the title of this comedy directed by Mel Brooks.

Gerard Butler

The very same guy who starred 300 also played this role. This time the story is based in New Orleans.

Thomas Kretschmann

We are in 2012 and the 3D version directed by Dario Argento tells once again the version of Bram Stoker.

We are sure we are missing some Draculas, aren’t we? Do you know any other actor who played this role?
